Perfect for book clubs or just a group of friends who want to gather for an relaxed evening creating art!

$48. per person, all inclusive. Includes all materials for use in-house. Quality brushes, professional paints and assorted watercolor papers. Drawing materials (graphite and colored pencils) also available.

Watercolor artist Jane Ramsey will guide you through a brief demo of materials and share some instruction. From there, you will be able to begin to work on your own small painting or just practice and have fun learning to use the materials. It’s meant to be relaxed and fun — all in the creative vibe of our cozy gallery rooms on the first floor.

DRAWING focus: Personalized instruction where you can learn to draw and/or build on your drawing skills. A strong foundation in drawing carries right into any painting medium.

WATERCOLOR focus: Personalized instruction learning to use watercolors (beginners welcome) or building on your own painting experience.

Classes provide a supportive and encouraging environment with other art enthusiasts. Beginners always welcome - don’t be intimidated!

New Students: Please call to set up a time to meet and discuss your goals. I highly recommend that we set up one private lesson so we can work together, discuss your experience level, work on some personalized instruction and goal setting.

If you are a painter, these experiences all translate to your work on the easel. If you are just starting out on your art journey, drawing is an essential foundation.
Class is open to all levels of drawing experience.

 During our 6 Friday morning sessions we will cover:

• materials – a wide range of graphite tools from powdered form to pencils to solid sticks

• line, shading, value and texture

• composition

• special tips and techniques for special effects

• the power of the eraser as a subtractive drawing tool

• papers & surfaces for drawing

• developing a sketchbook practice

What you need to bring:

• paper for drawing (bring what you have on hand and we'll review) Papers I like are Strathmore's 400 series and Legion Paper's Stonehenge 

• pencils (bring what you have) - I will be supplying you with two pencils

• tape (for taping down your paper to a drawing board)

• erasers - kneaded rubber eraser and a larger firm eraser
